In 2009, Pope Benedict XVI issued an encyclical titled “ENCYCLICAL LETTER: CARITAS IN VERITATE”, in essence a letter to all Catholic’s world-wide, on a subject he wished to convey.

Our interest should be tuned to what he speaks of world government. On paragraphs 66-67, he identifies the need for reform of the United Nations:

“…In the face of the unrelenting growth of global interdependence, there is a strongly felt need, even in the” midst of a global recession, for a reform of the United Nations Organization…” (p 36)

He then goes on to say what he means by “reform” on page 37:

“…This seems necessary in order to arrive at a political, juridical and economic order which can increase and give direction to international cooperation for the development of all peoples in solidarity. To manage the global economy; to revive economies hit by the crisis; to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result; to bring about integral and timely disarmament, food security and peace; to guarantee the protection of the environment and to regulate migration:…”

He then states his solution to the problem:

“…for all this, there is urgent need of a true world political authority, as my predecessor Blessed John XXIII indicated some years ago…”

He then says this world political authority would have to be enforced by law:

“Such an authority would need to be regulated by law…would need to be universally recognized and to be vested with the effective power to ensure security for all…”

That this “authority” would be over ALL nations is next proclaimed by the Pope:

“…Obviously it would have to have the authority to ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties [i.e., nations], and also with the coordinated measures adopted in various international forums…”

And, to put a final stamp on the supremacy of the One World Government over the subservient nation-states, he proclaims:

“…The integral development of peoples and international cooperation require the establishment of a greater degree of international ordering, marked by subsidiarity, for the management of globalization…”

Where, I would ask, have we heard this kind of talk before? Well, let’s look to the Bible, and the Book of Revelation:

{17:1} And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
{17:2} With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with
the wine of her fornication.

{17:3} So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

The “Beast” has all the markings of the European Union, which, quite conveniently, uses the symbol of a woman riding a beast in their representation of the EU:

But, who is the woman riding on the Beast of Revelation?

{17:4} And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

— Babylon was the originator of the “Mystery Religion”, and Peter calls Rome “Babylon” in his 1st Peter, 5:12:
{5:13} The [church that is] at Babylon, elected together with [you,] saluteth you; and [so doth] Marcus my son.
{17:7} And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman [Vatican], and of the beast [European Union? Future seat of the AntiChrist?] that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
{17:8} The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
{17:9} And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
–Note:  The seven mountains, upon which the woman sitteth, are the seven hills of Rome: (following from Wikipaedia)

The Seven Hills of Rome (ItalianSette colli di Roma) east of the river Tiber form the geographical heart of Rome, within the walls of the ancient city.

The seven hills are:

{17:10} And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. (7 Kings would refer to 7 Kingdoms that were a type of Babylon, i.e., Babylon, Medo-Persia, Rome, etc)
{17:11} And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
{17:12} And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
{17:13} These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

{17:15} And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
{17:16} And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
{17:17} For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
{17:18} And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
Vatican City, Italy.  She which “Reigneth over the kings of the earth.”
Final thought:  What does the Pope know that we do not know?
