A lot of Christian’s are under the mistaken belief that our nation was founded by men who were Christians (versus (c)hristians), and that the principles were based upon Christianity.  There is a difference between Christ and Deity, and that difference is crucial to understanding what the motivations were of the founding fathers.

In a Treaty of Peace and Friendship, signed at Tripoli November 4, 1796 (3 Ramada I, A. H. 1211), and at Algiers January 3, 1797 (4 Rajab, A. H.1211) which was ratified by the United States June 10, 1797 (21 years after our “Independence Day”), we can see written the following statement:

ARTICLE 11.
As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,(my emphasis) as it has in itself no character of enmity
against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Now, you might well ask, who was the person who negotiated this treaty and under whose authority?  At the end of the treaty, we find the following closing statement:

” Whereas the Underwritten David Humphreys hath been duly appointed  Commissioner Plenipotentiary by Letters Patent, under the Signature of the President and Seal of the United States of America, dated the 30th of March 1795, for negotiating and concluding a Treaty of Peace with the Most Illustrious the Bashaw, Lords and Governors of the City & Kingdom of Tripoli;

See, either one of the two following reasons could have been why this article 10 was included:

a.  We really WERE NOT founded on Christian principles

b.  We wanted to sign a treaty with Muslims, and to placate them, LIED against Jesus Christ and God the Father, by stating we were NOT a Christian nation.

I will leave it up to you to decide which option was used, and whether either was acceptable.  But ask yourself this question:  This treaty was negotiated and signed under the authority of the President of the United States, who KNEW the language used.  BTW, the President was George Washington…a freemason of the highest order.
