In the news: At a recent scholarly presentation, Dr. Gaby Barkay briefed the audience on the recent discovery of silver scrolls, dated to 500 years BEFORE the Dead Sea scrolls. The tiny (cigarette butt size) scrolls were painstakingly unrolled by the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and the following verses from Numbers 6:24-26 were revealed:
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
It is as if God, in the midst of such violence and demon-filled evil in the world, spoke softly from before the time of the exile in Babylon to say:
“I am still here, and I love you.”
No words are more loving and graceful. Also, the article goes on to verify the existence of child sacrifice in the ancient Jewish history, which is confirmed in numerous postings on this blogsite and was taking place during those years. This is the straw that broke the camel’s back, and was one of the main reasons for the punishment of Israel.
Yes, there is evil in the world, evil that most people cannot even begin to comprehend. But there is also the promise, from God, that he will not forget, and will make things right in the end. Hold on to that promise, of things unseen, and believe.
