Noahs_ArkChristians have a responsibility to accept the Word of God as absolute truth.  However, as in my post “Lukewarm and the new (c)hristians“, we find that many Christians do not accept fundamental truths about God, Jesus, and Satan.

This sad fact of life also can be seen in the “silliness” of believing that Noah’s ark was real.  However, when you consider that almost every historic civilization has a world-wide flood story (and let’s be clear, the Bible’s story predates all of the others), along with million’s of artifacts around the world proving a world-wide flood (such as “Whale Valley” in the western DESERT of Egypt,

or whale bones found on top of Mt Everest  Archived Here (as reported in the New York Times) should give pause to the “silliness” of the world-wide flood.  We can see in the NYT article that the very title shows their adherence to the “old-Earth” narrative.  Note that in each case, an explanation is given that defies logic much more than the Bible.  For instance, the Whale bones on top of Mt Everest are said to have been put there when the mountain, once the sea bed, rose up millions (and perhaps soon they will say billions) of years ago.  Yet, here we are, millions of years later, and the bones are on the SURFACE, easily accessible without ANY TOOLS at all:

“…Nearly all of the fossils were embedded in surface rock and easy to pick up, he said. ”That was another great piece of luck, since we couldn’t have brought in excavating equipment on horseback,” he said. ”Best of all, despite weathering, many of the smallest fossils were remarkably intact and will be relatively easy to study…” – NYT article: WHALE FOSSILS HIGH IN ANDES SHOW HOW MOUNTAINS ROSE FROM SEA.

And the same can be said about megladon shark teeth, found in creeks at the surface in my state of South Carolina (view video here).  The state of South Carolina, on the coast, has no “Grand Canyon” type river, carving down through supposedly million years of rock, exposing million year old teeth, so how did they find these at the surface?

However, my post today is a simple one:  Was the design of Noah’s Ark, given to him by God, proportionally correct to be classified as a safe transport over rough waters, say akin to a modern super tanker?

First, let’s look at the proportions of modern day super tankers as listed on the website “The Geography of Transport Systems“, showing the sizes of different classes of supertankers:

Because of their huge mass, tankers have a large inertia, making them very difficult to steer. A loaded supertanker could take as much as 4 to 8 kilometers and 15 minutes to come to a full stop and has a turning diameter of about 2 kilometers. Among the main tanker classes are:

ULCC 415 m 63 m 35 m Ultra Large Crude Carrier. Capacity exceeding 320,000 dwt. The largest tankers ever built have a deadweight of over 550,000 dwt.

With this knowledge in hand, let us turn to the Bible, Genesis Chapter 6:

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

A Cubit was the span of a man’s arm from his elbow to the middle finger, with different variations but commonly equal to 18″, or 1.5 feet. It would not matter, as long as the length of a cubit was constant, since we are looking at the perfect ratio of length to width that would classify the Ark as a modern day super tanker.

Thus, using 18″ as the rule, we find the Ark was 450′ feet long (or 137.16 meters) by 75 feet wide (22.86 meters).  If we divide 137.16M by 22.86 Meters, we get 6 as the ratio of the ark.

Here is what the results will reveal, when including Noah’s Ark in the classes of super tankers:

As we see, the AVERAGE ratio of all classes is 6, proving that Noah’s ark was the perfect ratio for building a super tanker, and thus, perfectly stable for hauling a huge cargo across turbulent waters.  Whether modern engineer’s figured this out on their own, or realized God is the master of all, it comes down to the same truth:

Noah’s Ark was the world’s first perfectly designed super tanker…
